Heritage Trail West Project
The City of Round Rock approved the 2022 Budget in September 2021 and included in the budget a one-time allocation of $300,000.00 for Historic Preservation Projects and an annual budget of 3% of the Hotel Occupancy Taxes for the same purpose. Round Rock Preservation advocated that the first funds from 2022 be used for the Restoration of the Round Rock Old Stagecoach Inn. The engraved history bricks for a display near the Inn were delivered to City of Round Rock Parks & Recreation Department. The engraved history bricks were installed as part of the City's Heritage Trail West Project and unveiled at the Stagecoach Inn grand opening on October 19, 2024. The contractor for the restoration phase of the Round Rock Stagecoach Inn Project was hired on April 13, 2023. The SCI project and the engraved brick project were completed in October 2024. On April 25, 2024 RRP provided the City of Round Rock $53,000.00 to help fund restoration of windows, doors, floors, and the roof at the RR Stagecoach Inn. The Parks Department is still working on signage for the park and the furnishings for the Stagecoach Inn. RR Preservation will meet with Round Rock leaders on February 25, 2025 to obtain an update on the Stagecoach Inn decor and furnishing. RR Preservation has commissioned Cathy Munson, granddaughter of William Walsh and a local artist, to paint large pictures to be displayed over the two fireplaces inside the Inn.
